The fate of the gubernatorial elections case filed on 3rd September in Kajiado high court remains a riddle as the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua while at Rombo strongly upholds Lenku’s win. Following is the President Ruto’s picking Katoo as his pointman, giving him a vital post in his government then acknowledging Lenku’s win and promising to work with him.
A large cross-section of Azimio were on tender hooks and constant fear that they’ll loss the court battle as depicted by Kajiado East MP Hon. Kakuta Maimai’s remarks at Dominion Chapel church Kitengela on Sunday 16th.
The governor too, was quick to congratulate the petitioner (Katoo) upon appointment as the new statehouse comptroller which, arguably, showed a sense of relieve.
On the contrary, the UDA have had hopes of whooping victory on floor of the Court but have gone silent since the President and his Deputy contributed their thoughts on the same.
Chances still are, the President and his Deputy, being the Executive cannot interfere with Judiciary following their first confession during inauguration to maximize the independence of the Judiciary on 13th September.
The case, which still is at pre-trials, is believed by most that upon nullification will result to either re-count or re-run. In case the re count is done and Katoo wins, it will automatically be by-election, race being between Nkedianye and Lenku considering that Katoo will not leave his high higher position for a governor.
In the event the court upholds Lenku’s re-election, the next battle for Lenku will be to win the County Assembly which over the days have been seen to grossly diasagree.
